There's a fun model retrospective over at Modelinia.com that is worth checking out. (click to play the video below for a preview)
After watching these entertaining clips, it got me thinking about something that Anna Wintour said in Suzy Menkes' New York Times article back on May 5th:
“The public interest in models these last few years has not been as it was during the early ’90s when Naomi [Campbell] and Linda [Evangelista] caused so much excitement,” Ms. Wintour says. “And until models become celebrities again in their own right, I can’t see them selling as well on magazine covers as actresses.”
That's a mouthful coming from a power broker who can, with simply a wave of her magic wand, bring models back into vogue again (no pun intended). Such a statement always makes me giggle; it's similar to hearing someone from the mass-media talk about how skewed the mass-media is.
There's a simple solution: bring back the American girls! It seems to me that American models have the ability to balance beauty, personality, skill, charm, and professionalism like no other! As for Rocket Garage? Well, we've been proudly producing American product since 2006!
